The first
national flag is said to be hoisted on august 7 1906, in the Parsee Bagan
Square ( green park ) in Calcutta.
The
second flag is said to have been hoisted in Paris by Madam Bikhaji Cama in 1907
Dr. Annie
Besant and Lokamaniya Tilak Hoisted this flag during the Home rule Movement in
1917
During
the session of the all India Congress Committee at Vijaywada in 1921 this flag
was designed and submitted to Mahatma Gandhiji by Pingali Venkayya.
The year
1931 was a landmark in the history of the flag. A resolution was passed on
adopting this tricolor flag as our national flag.
On July
22 1947, the constituent Assembly adopted this tricolor flag as Indian National
Flag unanimously after Suraiya Badruddin Tyabji’s proposition of the flag with
dharma chakra. Initially the chakra was designed black and was changed to blue
after Gandhiji’s dislike for the former colour.
